Itinerary
7:00-8:30
In the morning, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Chengdu. Take a 1.5-hour car ride to the Dujiangyan Panda Base.
8:30
Sign up at the panda base. Get a uniform, gloves, and a volunteer’s card. The professional panda keepers can speak simple English. Your guide will introduce you to the panda keepers and be there for you at all times.
8:40-10:30
Clean up the panda enclosures. Sweep out the leftovers and replace it with fresh bamboo, as well as clean out feces.
10:30-11:20
Take a break and tour around the panda base. Or you can participate in voluntary tree planting program in the yard.
11:20-11:30
Feed panda! Pandas are supplied with panda cakes, apples, and carrots four times a day. Panda keepers will show you how to feed panda with your own hands at very close distance.
11:30-12:00
Visit the panda research centre. Know the history of panda and the history of the Dujiangyan base.
12:00-13:00
Have a simple Chinese lunch in the panda keepers’ canteen. After lunch, enjoy some free time on your own. You can walk around the panda base or have a rest in the yard or the resting room.
13:00-14:00
Watch a panda movie. You will see a special documentary about cute panda’s daily life and know more about panda caring.
14:00-14:20
Feed panda with fresh bamboo, panda cakes and apples. It is the second chance to have an intimate communication with pandas.
14:20-15:30
Make panda cakes. It is high time to DIY panda cake on your own! Get creative about the shapes of the cakes, which are made with special ingredients for panda.
15:30-16:40
Join a panda lecture at the hall to know more about panda. Share today’s experience and feeling with other volunteers.
16:40-17:00
Get a certificate. The volunteer work ends here and you will receive a certificate for this unforgettable day.
17:00-18:30
Transfer back to your hotel in Chengdu.

Note:
1.The above schedule is for reference. Sometimes it will be adjusted according to health condition of the pandas.
2.The maximum number of participants is 20 for the Panda Keeper Program each day, so please book at least 15 days in advance.
